Western Wisconsin Health Launches New Substance Use Disorder Program, “Many Paths to Recovery”

Written by: Ryma Lindquist, Community Relations Director in collaboration with James Roe, LPC, SAS

Western Wisconsin Health (WWH) has announced the launch of a new Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment program, Many Paths to Recovery, a holistic, trauma-informed initiative designed to support individuals seeking healing from substance use challenges through compassionate and coordinated care.

Providers James Roe, MA, LPC, SAS, a Behavioral Health Counselor specializing in Substance Use Disorders, and Katie Johnson, CSW, CSAC, Certified Social Worker and Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor head up the program, leading both individual and group therapy offerings.

“Recovery is not a one-size-fits-all kind of goal, nor is it a label everyone would use to describe what they are looking for. At Western Wisconsin Health, we believe there are many paths to healing, hope, and meaningful, sustainable change,” James Roe, MA, LPC, SAS shared about the program. “Many Paths to Recovery is designed to support individuals through compassionate, coordinated care tailored to their unique needs.”

As a flexible, licensed substance use treatment professional-guided outpatient treatment program, participants can expect their treatment plans to include a combination of one or more group sessions weekly (up to 3 hours of group programming initially available), weekly one on one individual counseling, and the potential for additional coordinated primary care, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), lifestyle medicine, behavioral health, and/or other medically needed specialty care services.  Participants can expect a clear diagnosis and treatment recommendation at completion of their initial intake assessment, and if their needs are best addressed in our outpatient care model, a minimum commitment of 12 weeks of participation is required. Many Paths to Recovery is designed to support the chosen patterns of growth participants are working for within their own homes, workplaces and the relationships they hold most dear. Ongoing clinical review of treatment plans is a built-in facet of our treatment philosophy.

At launch, WWH’s Many Paths to Recovery is offering two primary group sessions to anchor the program’s weekly structure: Mindful Monday, an intentional start to the traditional work week, is held on Mondays from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., and Recovery Friday, a weekend trigger management group, which takes place on Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  We look forward to expanding our group therapy offerings with the growth of our program to address more specific needs such as parenting, family, professional development, trauma/co-occurring mental health issues and other topics.  The group programming will be located at 1100 Bergslien Street in Baldwin, Wisconsin, and individual sessions will be held there or at our satellite clinic at E114 Akers St, Spring Valley, WI 54767.

Most insurance plans are accepted, and individuals are encouraged to contact Western Wisconsin Health to verify coverage or discuss options. The program also offers free and confidential in-person or virtual consultations for those interested in gaining more information.
