WW Health Welcomes its First Baby of 2018!

Western Wisconsin Health is excited to announce that the first baby of 2018 has been born! Sweet little Ilán Yuií Rios was born on January 3, 2018 at 8:24 am. He weighed 8 lb. 5 oz. and measured 20 inches long. Parents, Maria Schwedhelm and Sandro Rios Aponte of Minneapolis, MN, drove all the way to Baldwin to have Dennis Hartung, MD, FACOG, and OB-GYN attend the birth of their son. He was also welcomed by his excited big sister.

They knew Ilán Yuií was in the breech position and researched Dr. Hartung, specifically, because of the great reputation he has within the region and his skill set that includes planned vaginal breech birth. After meeting Dr. Hartung, they were confident that they would receive great care and took comfort in his years of experience and wealth of knowledge, along with the peaceful birth center space at Western Wisconsin Health.

The family received a special “New Year’s baby” gift basket filled with a variety of organic toiletries, teethers, and the newest trend, baby bib scarves! Along with these natural goodies, they were gifted a check for $100 donated from the Western Wisconsin Health Auxiliary.

The year 2017 was another record-breaking year for the Western Wisconsin Health Birth Center with 170 deliveries and a primary cesarean birth rate of only 4%. For more information on the Western Wisconsin Health Birth Center, please visit our website at wwhealth.org.
